Today I’m saying thank you for reading my blog. I’ve been thinking about writing about food for years, but never got off my lazy butt to actually do it. I think losing my job motivated me to do something that I’m passionate about.
I’ve been blogging for less than a year, and so far it’s been a lot of fun. It’s been good to give myself deadlines and actually stick to them. It’s been great to write on a regular basis about something that I want to write about. It’s been good exercise for my brain.
It’s been challenging trying to figure out how to photograph my food. This is something I am far from mastering, but am looking forward to working on in 2015. Thankfully I have a photographer friend who introduced me to a series of online food photography workshops. Another photographer friend came over to my house and shot a bunch of dishes I made. Now I have some beauty shots in my photo library. Thank you!
To my friend who taught me that done is better than perfect, thanks for putting some sense into me so I would stop fiddling with the blog on the back end and actually start posting what I had written.
To my guest blog posters who shared their knowledge and experiences, thank you.
To my best friend who quietly encouraged me from afar, who helped me with naming the blog, who wrote cards of support and encouragement, who texted me pictures of her mom making my food, thank you.
To my mother-in-law who opened up her kitchen and laughed with me as I followed her around with camera, pen and paper and who didn’t get annoyed when I kept asking her to measure her ingredients, thank you. It has been an honor to learn Chinese cooking from the best.
Thank you to my husband, my biggest supporter and my copy editor. Even though we disagree about the Oxford comma, he is, and will always be my favorite editor.
The biggest thrill has been seeing and hearing from you, the people who read about and make my food. Thank you for the support!
